In fact, my administration of the <a href="https://www.flickr.com/groups/selfwhithacamera/pool/">Flickr group</a> dedicated to reflective self-portraits had lapsed to the point that almost four thousand photos were in queue for approval! (I'm plugging away at getting it up to date.) I hope to be posting more regularly here now that it's back on my radar.</p><p>I like this photo mostly for the pinks and the geometry.</p>patrickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07233974776281287080noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080280861185332187.post-46193736617835534042011-09-30T12:16:00.000-07:002016-10-26T09:41:10.729-07:00Infinite Self-Portrait #2<div style="margin: 0 0 10px 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.8em; line-height: 1.6em;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/16089948@N08/6198682438/" title="Infinite Self-Portrait #2"><img src="https://farm7.staticflickr.com/6001/6198682438_98589455f0.jpg" alt="Infinite Self-Portrait #2" /></a><br/><span style="margin: 0;"><a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/16089948@N08/6198682438/">Infinite Self-Portrait #2</a>, a photo by <a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/16089948@N08/6198682438/">Xanda O'Peagrim</a> on Flickr.</span></div><p>Some photos, despite any attempt to make the viewer smile, do precisely that.</p>patrickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07233974776281287080noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080280861185332187.post-83210706424964434102011-09-20T23:27:00.001-07:002011-12-19T10:49:45.797-08:00Caught in the Web<div style="margin: 0 0 10px 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.8em; line-height: 1.6em;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/activemama/6166087707/" title="Caught in the Web"><img src="http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6154/6166087707_4a2440d971.jpg" alt="Caught in the Web by Reney L" /></a><br/><span style="margin: 0;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/activemama/6166087707/">Caught in the Web</a>, a photo by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/activemama/">Reney L</a> on Flickr.</span></div><p>A couple of years ago, I started a 365-day project that didn't go much beyond a week or so. The person who created the group, <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/rougerouge/">rougerouge</a>, apparently made many members of the group administrators and when he stopped moderating (for whatever reason), the task somehow fell to me. Or perhaps I just decided to take over when no one else was doing anything. In any event, I've been doing it for the past several years, with some help from <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/rodmurrow/">rod murrow</a>, who offered to help several years ago. (Thanks, Rod!)<br />

This particular photo is pretty representative of the bulk of the photos in the pool. While many are shot with the intent of being clever, or shot in unusual places or in unusual shiny objects, this straight-ahead, point-the-camera-at-the-mirror-and-shoot self-portrait dominates the pool. So, I guess it's fitting that this photo is the 30,000th photo in the pool.</p>(I wish that the photographer hadn't flipped the image to right readin, but... c'est la vie.)patrickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07233974776281287080noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080280861185332187.post-29189612467870005702011-07-15T11:15:00.001-07:002011-07-15T11:15:41.004-07:00objectsmayappear<div style="margin: 0 0 10px 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.8em; line-height: 1.6em;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29706394@N03/5939794570/" title="objectsmayappear"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6007/5939794570_cd9c590e00.jpg" alt="objectsmayappear by jm_h" /></a><br/><span style="margin: 0;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29706394@N03/5939794570/">objectsmayappear</a>, a photo by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/29706394@N03/">jm_h</a> on Flickr.</span></div><p>What moments would we miss sometimes were it not for mirrors?</p>patrickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07233974776281287080noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080280861185332187.post-72568642268566793942011-07-14T16:47:00.001-07:002011-07-14T16:47:58.689-07:00Transalp Mirror<div style="margin: 0 0 10px 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.8em; line-height: 1.6em;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/37386299@N08/4257069873/" title="Transalp Mirror"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4051/4257069873_ac0f071f01.jpg" alt="Transalp Mirror by CWhatPhotos" /></a><br/><span style="margin: 0;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/37386299@N08/4257069873/">Transalp Mirror</a>, a photo by <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/37386299@N08/">CWhatPhotos</a> on Flickr.</span></div><p>I suppose this is why there are always mirrors in the Fun House at the amusement parks... they can be a lot of fun.</p>patrickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07233974776281287080noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080280861185332187.post-81986258325790822832011-07-13T16:04:00.000-07:002011-07-13T16:04:47.334-07:00Broken<div style="margin: 0 0 10px 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.8em; line-height: 1.6em;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/writingasjoe/2143895125/" title="Broken"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2040/2143895125_0f158b8725.jpg" alt="Broken by jo(e)" border="1" /></a><br />

Most often, in the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/selfwhithacamera/pool/with/5930435782/">Self-Portrait With Camera</a> pool, the photos are simply a momentary document of a person turning a camera towards the mirror or reflective surface. Other times, however, art is created that goes far beyond the mere recording of a reflection.</span></div><p></p>patrickhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07233974776281287080noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4080280861185332187.post-84271242363319082952011-07-12T12:56:00.001-07:002011-07-12T16:19:16.349-07:00Double Reflection<div style="margin: 0 0 10px 0; padding: 0; font-size: 0.8em; line-height: 1.6em;"><a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/nicki79/5930435782/" title="Double Reflection"><img src="http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6017/5930435782_4dd6f5b184.jpg" alt="Double Reflection by Nicki 979" border="1" /></a><br />

Because I'm doing this pretty much on a whim, I'll be brushing up on my HTML and CSS skills and tweaking the design as I go.<br />
